Olympic Torch

Not long ago, the Olympic torch came to Alnwick castle. Me and a friend's family went to see. There were loads of freebies being given out and the atmosphere was amazing. All of the sponsors for the Olympics were there as well as the Olympic torch car. We thought that all this excitement would mean the torch would be fantastic. However, we only saw 5 seconds of the torch as it flew past us. But, it was still good to see it in person.

Fort William

During the holidays I went to Fort William with my family. We went up Ben Nevis, I kayaked with my dad and we saw the preparation for the downhill mountain bike world championships. As well as this we had the best weather in the country that week! But, there was still snow on the top of Ben Nevis, in summer! The preparation for the mountain bike world championships was amazing. Everybody was practising and the car park was filled mountain bike companies. Me and dad got to try out the old 2007 mountain bike course and it was great fun! It was definitely one of the best highlights. Everyone agrees they had an awesome time.

Conniston

Last weekend I went to Coniston with a few friends. It chucked it down the first two days but the rivers were awesome because of the rain. We climbed Coniston Old Man in the mist and went into a slate quarry on the way down. If you see some names on a piece of slate by the quarry entrance that's me and my friends' names. I didn't bring a spare set of clothes and the drying room was tiny so I had to spend some of my time in my school uniform! I also managed to rip a hole in one of my socks. It was a great laugh and good fun.
